The much awaited Gilwell Camp arrived over the weekend 24th to 27th May 2019. The Cubs met at KFC car park in Darlington at 4pm for the rush down to London for a long weekend camp at the Home of Scouting!
Everyone arrived around 10pm and settled into their tents then supper and wondered what the place looked like in the day light. The morning came and WOW were the words of one Cub and amazement from the leaders of the size of the site and the history around them.
After an amazing breakfast a full day of activities started with Coracle Building Raft Building a Sensory Trail and Shelter Building. The day was finished off with a Hike to the meridian line marker then back home for supper and bed.
Sunday activities were just as amazing with Tomahawk Throwing, Leap of Faith, 3G swing, High all Aboard with the day finishing with a traditional campfire and sing song. The heavens opened and we had 20 minutes of torrential rain meaning we had to play tent bingo swapping people around but all managed to stay dry and have a good night’s sleep.
Monday, we headed to London on the Tube! We visited Buckingham Palace Big Ben & the Houses of parliament , Downing street and the cenotaph then a walk to the tower of London before the obligatory souvenir shopping. We had an amazing camp everyone had a fantastic time and a special Thank You to Assistant Group Manager Anthony Gibson for fixing Barney our beloved minibus and George Campbell Wilson Assistant Group Manager for organising and booking it all!
Its that time of year again – people start planning their holidays and days out.
We pack our bags and make our pack lunch and plan our route for the days out.

Happy Scouting and Happy Adventures for Summer 2019
On Saturday 20th October the Cubs and Scouts of the 14th had use of the Longfield School IT Suite (thanks to ASL Faro who is an IT Assistant there) in order to join JOTI.
We had a fantastic time at the Jamboree, during which we made contact and chatted to other Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Rover Scouts and Leaders from 51 countries across the globe. It was interesting to see that when we joined (just before 10am) we were talking with people from the East (Phillipines, Indonesia, etc.) but as we left we were chatting with Bolivia, Brazil and Chile in the West.
